Svolvær
Svolvær is Lofoten’s largest town with 4,500 residents, a working harbour, daily flights from Oslo via Bodø, and the main Hurtigruten stop. The town sits at the base of Svolværgeita (The Goat), a twin-pinnacle rock climb that requires a guide and a head for heights. Sea eagle RIB safaris depart from the harbour year-round. The Magic Ice gallery, Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum gallery, and a growing restaurant scene make Svolvær the logical first night on the islands.
- Population: 4,500, Lofoten’s administrative capital
