Rafsbotnfjellet is the family-friendly Blue-grade hike 20 minutes east of Alta. 558 metres, 8 km round trip, 3 to 4 hours. Marked trail through birch forest to an open plateau summit with cairn and view down the fjord. Snow-free late May to mid-October.
Rafsbotnfjellet sits 20 minutes east of central Alta at the head of Rafsbotn. 558 metres, DNT Blue, marked all the way. This is the right peak for a mixed family group that wants a real summit without the commitment of Haldde. Birch forest on the way up, open plateau on top, clear view down Altafjord.

The honest grade
DNT Blue. Marked T-path, steady climb, no scrambling. The middle third is the steepest section. The summit plateau is broad and forgiving — easy to navigate in fair weather, less so in cloud.
The route

Middle section. The trail leaves the treeline at 350 metres and climbs open slope on a cairned line. 45 minutes.
